TRUNCATED (2005-2008) is an intensive portrayal of an ageing pine forest plantation in Derbyshire, England. The series identifies a landscape where nature finds shelter and protection from its own elemental chaos. It explores the natural spirituality of the place, which is largely unaffected by the modern world. Hart’s narrative is further enhanced by his use of traditional darkroom printing techniques.
The series is comprised of 37 photographs made by Hart as silver gelatin prints.
Published as Hart’s first monograph by Dewi Lewis in 2008
TRUNCATED has won a number of international awards
and is held in the V&A National Art Library Collection.
Works from the series were exhibited in Hart’s solo exhibition
‘Poetry of Place’ at The Photographers’ Gallery Print Room in January 2018
